The Wind Symphony is a part of several new music consortia through which they have helped commission works from Steven Bryant, Dana Wilson, James Curnow, David Gillingham, Donald Grantham, William Bolcom, Roger Zare, Jennifer Jolley, Shuying Li, and Mark Camphouse and has committed to future plans with Reena Esmail, Caroline Kyunga Min Ahn, James Stephenson and Kristin Kuster. The ETHS Wind Symphony is committed to developing a strong understanding of ensemble performance concepts and instrument pedagogy in every student through the study of traditional and contemporary, and secular and sacred repertoire of the highest caliber. Made up of the most mature wind and percussion musicians at ETHS, this ensemble studies advanced literature utilizing a conceptual and fundamental skill set developed over many years of study. The Wind Symphony is the preeminent wind band at Evanston Township High School.
